Basketball foul at gym prompted self-defense killing
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say an argument over a basketball foul that started inside a suburban Philadelphia fitness center ended when one man shot and killed the other outside in self-defense.
Investigators say the shooter was justified in pulling a 9 mm Glock firearm from his backpack as he left the gym and killing 28-year-old Alan Womack.
They say Womack had lain in wait with a loaded 9 mm handgun, and fired two shots that hit nearby parked cars as he was struck.
Officials say the Feb. 28 shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. outside an LA Fitness in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
